When the demons attacked Azeroth it was not only the humans of Stormwind that stirred. King Bronzebeard commissioned the need for Ironforge to be involved in the matter as well. The Dwarves were chosen to march alongside their Wildhammer brothers and set off for the Portal.
The leader of this Dwarven expedition was selected out of several hopefuls and immediately sent to train and ready the willing conscripts. The elected expedition leader, Rognus Ironbraid, eventually set off for the portal beside his Alliance comrades. He commanded the Dwarves in the Alliance Expedition however over the course of the invasion of Illidan's realm, Outland, Ironbraid grew tired of the methods adopted by his nearby allies and decided to splinter off with close comrade Skibb Bunkerbuster.
The Dwarvish and Gnomish group joined together to take the fight to Illidan in their own manner however keep their ties with the Stormwind humans. They fight in the name of Ironforge with their Gnomish cousins and their Wildhammer brothers.
Official Ranks:
Captain (Guild Leader)
The leader of the Dwarf side of the expedition and in charge of running the guild efficiently. It is up to him to lead the Expedition, manage the ranks and work on fighting off both Horde and Illidari forces.
Vice-Captain (Second in Command)
The Vice-Captain assists the Captain in leading the guild, training the recruits and helping out where he can. The Vice-Captain will make decisions on behalf of the Captain if he is absent and usually can be looked upon in matters of need.
Lieutenant
An officer rank who assist in organizing troops and labourers. This role is to ease the stress on the Captain and his second-in-command but the role doesn't command too much power. It is of course, still an esteemed rank within the expedition.
Corporal
The rank for the member who has earned respect from his peers and officers. The role is predominantly a leadership role but in the absence of a Lieutenant or higher the Corporal is usually relied upon to make decisions.
Private
The standard issue expeditionary member.

Cosmetic Ranks:
Ironforge Paladins are conscripted in to help out as well as Ironforge soldiers. These Paladins are tasked to use their Light magic to defend their allies, mend their friends and punish their enemies.

Shield Guards are the standard bulky unit. They are often soldiers, ex-Ironforge Guards and sometimes Mountaineers. These Shield Guards use a range of weapons but are usually considered to wield an axe and shield. Nonetheless they make up the 'expeditionary' infantry.
These two are ex soldiers that favour ranged attacks as opposed to be close up and personal with enemies. They are superior marksmen and use muskets to bring down the enemy from afar.
The priests, like the Paladins, have joined the expedition to help out their comrades with their wholesome knowledge of the Light. These priests act as healers and guides to the sprawling masses of the bearded folk.
Labourers
The Dwarven craftsman are considered to be some of the best in all of Azeroth and well, that's no different here. The expedition labourers are not simply men (and women) who pursue manual labour but also fill roles as doctors, chefs and other miscellaneous tasks.
